Martin Brew
Big Hearts Like Ours
Martin Brew has a record as long as your arm with Fat City.
In 1997 he started working in the Fat City record shop as manager and general selector of platters purveyed and around this time he also began djing at various fat city promotions a few years down the line taking on the role of resident DJ at the Fat City weekly shindig “Friends and Family”.
However Martins main direction has always been in the studio. During the early nineties he was signed to ex Factory boss Rob Gretton’s Robs Records as “Strangebrew” and then around 1998 started “JWalk” with Martin Desai producing the sorely overlooked LP “A Night On The Rocks” for East West and a handful of now classic singles including the much lauded “Soul Vibration” for Pleasure Records.
During this time he produced several tracks for Fat City’s compilation series Mystic Brew, most notably “Sandsteppin” which was licensed to a number of DJ mix compilations including N.O.W DJ Kicks and Andy Smiths “The Document”
In mid 2005 we released his debut solo production album called “No Room In The City For Big Hearts Like Ours” featuring collaborations with Rich Medina, The Nextmen and Riton.
Martin is now working on a new project under the J-Walk moniker for the eclectic and respected Peacefrog with an LP due for release sometime soon.
