Over the last 6 or so years Fat City’s Friends & Family night has established itself as one of the most talked about and original club nights in the country boasting endless guests both established and up and coming from all corners of the globe. By far the most popular and regular guests at the night have been The Nextmen. The Nextmen are Brad Baloo and Dom Search two of the UK’s most renowned freestyle club DJs and mix CD purveyors, whilst also being highly respected producers in the own right.
This latest mix CD continues the run of underground mixtape style winners the boys have put their name to including ‘A Child’s Introduction to Jazz’ and ‘Not the Nextmen’ which have seen them gain cult status on the international clubbing circuit from London to Sydney and back via Newton St. Messer’s Search and Baloo have been regulars at both Manchester and London residencies over the years so they were an obvious choice to compile, mix, splice and dice their way through 18 nuggets of funk soul Hip Hop and reggae new and old that encapsulates the Fat City sound and that unique Friends & Family vibe.
This mix boasts an impressive line up of essential contemporary artists including Madlib, Jay Dee, Quantic, Mr Scruff, and Ty as well as several exclusives from Orgone, Fat Freddys Drop, The Nextmen and Freddie Crugar and classics from Lee Perry, Bob Marley, Ripple and Angie Stone. Look out also for those trademark Nextmen blends marrying timeless vocals with big club rhythms.
